Wallingford

I started typing up the days events but then managed to delete it, so this is slightly shorter version.

Day started with very scaredy puppy, then met Helen who very kindly arranged for well trained hubby to bring Nellie Bean down, Nellie has SUCH a fab temperment and was so lovely to the puppy. Although the puppy was more interested in taking Helen's fingers off to get to the treats.

Then met Rosie and Chip, Chip was also super to pup. Rosie told me where her caravan was so Scandal could have a play with Fozzie but I couldn't find it, whoops! I'm not very good at taking directions!

Was talking to Ant and his dad at their car and by this point Scandal had decided that agility was GREAT fun and was bark bark bark the whole time, I'm hopefully going to kerb this soon but as she was so scared in the morning I decided to let it go. Anyway, due to having two very good doggies, I don't hold the lead tight enough, and in my chatter, dropped Scandal's lead and off she charged into the ring, chasing the dog that was running. The judge gave the woman a rerun and she messed up, I was absolutely mortified and soooooo embarrassed. Even more embarrassed that the pup was having such a great time she was in no hurry to be caught. OMG, nearly died of embarrassment. Must do some more recall training!!

Scandal had a really good play with 4 or 5 other pups, all smaller than her which she's more confident about and she played really nicely, not too rough. She also met Chilli her brother who she liked, and mummy Ruby, who was also really good with her, even when Scandal wanted to steal her toy.
Scandal and Chilli

Tia had a clear in anysize :o) and isn't lame today yay! Bex had a 4th in 6-7 agility but ran like a slug, don't know what was wrong with her. Dad's handling has improved so much, he and Bex are really working like a team now.
Going to WBSDS on the weekend then thats it for aaaages!

Bexy

Well the little spaniel is doing good. Last week she had her first runs at grade 6, and won 5-7 agility and 5-7 jumping (alongside 4 E's, lol) and today at Wallingford she won 6-7 jumping. What a good little spaniel, and not a sniff in sight!

My camcorder has sadly died, mainly due to the kind puppy taking a fancy to it, pulling it off the desk, eating the hand strap, chewing off the zoom button, and chewing round the piece you look through. As this one was on it's way out anyway (the camcorder, not the puppy) and had become rather grainy, I'm hoping to get a Panasonic HD camcorder, which is rather lovely, I can get a special deal on it (about £100 off :o)) but have to wait until a week Monday to get it. I'm so impatient, I want it now :o)

I am going to Wallingford tomorrow, hopefully Tia will be doing her first anysize class in 10 months. I am really looking forward to it! It will be the first time the pup will be round the rings, I think it will make her go a bit loopy!

Plea at Wallingford

If you're going to Wallingford and have a nice friendly and sociable dog, please could you come up to me and the puppy and say hello! She got snapped at a couple of days ago by a collie and then a spaniel, and saw a spaniel that barked at her yesterday and so she flew up to it with her hackles up and growling! I've worked hard on getting her to be calm and friendly to other dogs and so don't want to go back to square one, especially as some agility dogs don't have the best of temperments anyway, so have to pick and choose who she'll say hello to on Sunday! Rosie I'll be coming to find you and Fuzzy Fozzie!
Thanks :o)

18 weeks

Time flies. I can't believe Scandal is 18 weeks already. I dont think she has grown the last couple of weeks, but I went out for a walk this morn and met 4 or 5 people we haven't seen for a week and they all said "WOW hasn't she grown" so i guess she's not quite so small after all!

Here she is in show (ish!) pose.

I did some ladder work with her yesterday afternoon, and that was... interesting. After trying to balance on the rungs of the ladder, then trying to leap over it, and getting her foot caught in it, we managed to get walking through very neatly. It certainly has helped her, and she was a lot worse than I thought she would be although did get the hang of it quite quickly.
I've ordered some books and have ordered Susan Garretts Crate Games, I did scoff at someone who told me they were doing CG as the whole idea of a DVD all about how to play with the crate just did not appeal, however everyone raves about it so I thought well might as well join them! Also ordered Shaping Success and Ruff Love as hoping it may help with some of Scandal's naughtiness and possessiveness. Oh and while I was there I ordered 2 books by Christine Zink on building the canine athlete and the agility advantage - figured that as none of my dogs are competing right now I may as well read up on as much as possible about how to keep them in good shape!
And a pic of Ricky looking gorgeous at 10. He got 3rd in anysize with Lee this weekend, good boy Rickers Knickers!

Bex agility

Bex at Wye Valley - naughty thing behaved like a spaniel and went off sniffing!

I typically managed to film her worst run, g5 agility. I turned the cam on to film 1-7 jumping and it said remove lens cap... lens cap was already removed. Bexy did a stunning run and came 2nd, in 16.xx so by the time I had turned camera off, put lens cap back on, turned camera on, and removed lens cap, they had finished. The camera did catch them coming over the last jump!

They also won the g5 jumping by 4 secs but I'd gone home by then as had gone up for the morning with some friends I train who's daughter had their first show there. It was nice not having any of the dogs with me, there was no crazy barking, leaping about, or chewing of the car.

Mum had looked after them and I was NOT impressed when i got home to see Scandal had landscaped the garden, soil everywhere, pup looked like she had been a pig wallowing in mud... great. What a bad girl. We're going to an obedience show this weekend, if I can make the effort. I'm sure pup will find it thrilling to watch 10mins of heelwork... not... at least she wont stand ringside screaming like a banshee!!
